6/29/10 Allen Takes the HS Win at GIR

This week in High School racing action at Gateway International Raceway marked the return of 2008 class champion Matt Gosch. Gosch has taken a few weeks off to continue his tour of Professional level remote control racing. The break would not be welcomed back with a win for the past champion, however, it would be 2009 class champion, Derek Allen taking home the trophy.

Gosch looked in fine form during the first round where he posted a .032 second reaction time and ran just over a hundredth of a second on his dial-in to capture victory over Kegan Hagedorn, who broke out. Allen received a competition break single in the first round to advance.

Gosch was taken out by Cody Hanner in the second round after turning on the red light by just two-thousandths of a second, which would advance Hanner to the final round where he would meet Allen. Allen advanced through the semi-final by defeating Cheyenne Bittle who was just a little late on the starting line and broke out.

In the final round Allen had the starting line advantage and then ran his dial in “with a zero” at the finish line to take the win over Hanner who broke out.
